On December 16, 2021, the Warsaw office of the Kościuszko Foundation presented the Bohdan and Zygmunt Janczewski Award for an original work in the field of clinical medicine to Nastazja Dagny Pilonis, M.D.
The prize was funded by andrologist Zygmunt Janczewski, a professor at the Medical Academy in Warsaw. It is awarded every two years to a Polish doctor who has authored an outstanding publication in the field of clinical medicine.
We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2021 Award of $15,000 - Nastazja Dagny Pilonis M.D., co- author of the article published in the Annals of Internal Medicine titled "Long-Term Colorectal Cancer Incidence and Mortality After a Single Negative as Part of a 3-Drug Regimen for Initial Screening Colonoscopy". Nastazja Dagny Pilonis M.D. works as a resident doctor at the Department of Oncological Gastroenterology at the National Oncology Institute Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Warsaw.
Prof. Pilonis attended the award ceremony accompanied by Prof. Michał F. Kamiński, head of the Department of Cancer Prevention at the National Institute of Oncology. The symbolic check was presented by Mirosław Wielgoś, M.D. Ph.D., Chairman of the Award College, Witold Rużyłło, M.D. Ph.D., - a member of the Award College, Marek Skulimowski - President and Executive Director of The Kosciuszko Foundation, Inc., and Prof. Grażyna Czetwertyńska - President of the Kosciuszko Foundation Poland.
The ceremony was also attended by two honored friends of the Kosciuszko Foundation: Prof. Piotr Wilczek - Polish Ambassador to Great Britain, and Dr. Paweł Poszytek - General Director of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System.
