Zagłada is about a 90-year-old Polish man living in Maspeth, Queens, who is exposed by an African-American journalist as having been a Kapo in Buchenwald. The man shoots at the journalist, is arrested for firing an illegal firearm, and is held at the 112th Precinct by an NYPD Intelligence Bureau Officer. There he is forced to confront his past by a Federal Prosecutor who is driven by a personal vendetta.

Borderland Biography is a story of an extraordinary man: first, a Polish scout fighting in WWII, then a POW/DP in Western Europe, finally as a penniless immigrant in post-war America who eventually became a world-renowned academic. The evening will feature a discussion with Prof. Z. Anthony Kruszewski and Prof. Beata Halicka, the author of biography. 

Join us for an afternoon with Prof. Maria Siemionow, M.D., Ph.D., a world-renowned scientist, and microsurgeon, who in 2008 led a team of surgeons that performed the first near-total face transplant in the U.S at the Cleveland Clinic. The event is presented as part of the KF Collegium of Eminent Scientists Lecture Series and will feature a presentation by Prof. Siemionow: "My Journey to Success in the US. "

From Warsaw with Love is the epic story of how Polish intelligence officers forged an alliance with the CIA in the twilight of the Cold War, told by the award-winning author John Pomfret. The discussion will be moderated by Alex Storozynski. 

Norman Kelker tells a remarkable life story of Ernestine Rose, a Polish-born Jewish woman who came to the US and became a leader of 19^th century American women fighting for the right to vote.

Accomplished musicians from Poland, Bartosz Koziak, cello, and Grzegorz Mania, piano perform compositions by Simon Laks, Karol Rathaus, and Mieczyslaw Weinberg. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation in New York is pleased to invite you to the opening of Henryk Stażewski: Constructing Reliefs on October 14, 2021, at 6 PM. The exhibition will showcase a series of relief works made by the Polish artist Henryk Stażewski during the 1960s and 1970s. One of the central figures in the history of Polish abstraction, Stażewski had a career that spanned over seven decades. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation - The American Center of Polish Culture is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by Sandi Slone and Joanna Borkowska. Artists of different generations, backgrounds, and aesthetic sensibilities, they each delve into the richness and power of color and poured paint, their works affirming abstraction's continuing, renewable, miraculous vitality.

The Kosciuszko Foundation and the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz, are co-hosting a two-day symposium, paired with an exhibit, spanning both locations that will focus on the artistic legacy of Jan Sawka (1946–2012), a noted contemporary artist of Polish origin and global reach. The panels of scholars will help illuminate the aspects of Jan Sawka's practice, his biography, and the social and historic context of his art. Join us for LIFE IN IMAGES – a retrospective exhibition of works and presentation by Janusz Kapusta, an illustrator, painter, set designer, known for designing illustrations for "The Captive Mind," a book by Nobel laureate Czeslaw Milosz. His drawings have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, Nature and other major media outlets, and his works are in the collections of many museums and galleries around the world, including the MOMA. The event will offer an overview of the artist's achievements across all media and give insights into his interests in Mathematics and Philosophy that shaped key moments in his artistic endeavors.

The Kosciuszko Foundation invites all children aged 7-10 years to take part in the art contest: "Santas ... Santas." The deadline to submit the artwork is November 29, 2019. The art exhibit and award presentation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. The event will also feature Pastorals and Christmas Carols singing by young artists. New Currents features new compositions of modern music with jazz and songs composed to the poems by Polish poet Jan Lechon by Alicia Jonas, established music educator, pianist and composer. The concert will be performed by Chenchun Ma, piano, Stella Perlic, xylophonist, Jan Leonhart, bass, and Derek Lee Ragin, countertenor. The recital is paired with the opening exhibition of the winning artworks in the 6^th International Andriolli Drawing Competition – Naleczow, Poland, 2018, curated by Janusz Skowron.

The Royal Lazienki, King Stanislaw August's beloved private residence is one of the most valuable Polish historical buildings housing a collection of the most precious paintings from the royal art collection.  Ms. Izabela Zychowicz, Deputy Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum, and Ms. Dorota Juszczak, curator of paintings will give a presentation on the history of the Royal Łazienki, and the vast collection of paintings gathered by king Stanislaw August at his residence. 

Following performances in Los Angeles, California, and Poznan, Poland, 3 PADEREWSKIS will have its official world premiere on the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater stage. Produced by The Kosciuszko Foundation and The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the performance is part of a celebration of the 101st anniversary of Poland's Independence and the centenary of Polish - American diplomatic relations. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation welcomes Jarosław Anders, a Polish literary critic, translator and author to give a lecture on Marek Hlasko (1934 – 1969), one of the most influential Polish writers of the 20^th century. Known as Polish James Dean, Hlasko became "the idol of Poland's young generation in 1956," (Czeslaw Milosz, 1980 Nobel Prize in literature). The talk presents Marek Hłasko's life and work as a reflection of one of the most turbulent and tragic periods in Polish literary history, and as a part of the larger canvas of global post-war culture. The event features dramatic reading from selected works by Marek Hlasko and screening of video archival materials.

Hailed by the New York Times as "an excellent young Polish pianist," Anna Kijanowska returns to New York to the Kosciuszko Foundation's recital hall to delight audience with "Searching for light" recital celebrating the artistic legacy of Polish-Jewish composer Roman Ryterband. The recital features performances of guest artists: Bulgarian lyric soprano Adriana Velinova and music awards recipient Wanda Glowacka, cello and is paired with Krzysztof M. Bak art exhibit. The program includes pieces by Lyudmila German, Maurice Ravel and Avner Dorman.

The Kosciuszko Foundation is pleased to announce the launching of a new cultural initiative, Kosciuszko Projects, and its first exhibit: The Many Faces of Tamara de Lempicka.A selection of a dozen works from different periods, as well as memorabilia belonging to the artist and archival materials will be presented to the New York public for the first time in nearly eighty years. The Kosciuszko Foundation has a distinct pleasure to invite you to "Jerzy Giedroyc and his Achievements" – a panel discussion and exhibition presenting the legacy of "KULTURA" and its books. As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of the World War II, we are pleased to invite you to an evening with an award-winning journalist and bestselling author Andrew Nagorski. Acclaimed scholar of Studies of Civilizations, former diplomat and the Ambassador of Poland to India (2009-2014), Prof. Piotr Klodkowski will discuss the body of work of the Polish painter and graphic artist Stefan Norblin. Hidden away in the palaces of Maharajas in India and rediscovered in the late 1980s, murals and interior designs made by Norblin are regarded as the most precious Polish artistic legacy in Asia. Join us for an evening of arias and songs performed by extraordinary artists Monika Krajewska, mezzo-soprano, praised for her "rich and strong tone that expresses not only beauty, but a luminous sense of peace and comfort, " and Yelena Kurdina, piano, known for her collaboration with the most distinguished artists, and described as "rich and haunting collaborations, beautifully judged and impeccably ardent," in the program of Polish, Russian and Latin American composers. The Kosciuszko Foundation is pleased to present: "Zbigniew Herbert - Aria Pożegnalna" – a spectacle of poetry and music performed by Jerzy Zelnik, actor and Michał Maksymilian Dudziński, piano.  The presentation is dedicated to Zbigniew Herbert, one of Poland's most honored and influential poets, to commemorate the 20^th anniversary of his passing.

The Kosciuszko Foundation presents the final concert of the season by WALK AWAY - ranked the best Polish jazz band by the Jazz Forum magazine. The event will also feature a photo exhibit "Faces of Music" ("Twarze Muzyki") by renowned Polish photographer Andrzej Tyszko.

Join us for the children's theatre show presenting a picturesque and wonderful adventures of the "The Cheating Flea" based on the story by Jan Brzechwa. The show is presented by the Polish Theatre Institute and is for children 6-12 years of age.

The Kosciuszko Foundation in partnership with the INGLOT Cosmetics present a jazz concert by an iconic Polish pianist Włodek Pawlik and his esteemed trio to be performed at Blue Note. Featured artists: Włodek Pawlik, piano, Pawel Panta, double bass, Cezary Konrad, drums, and a special guest GRAMMY winner Randy Brecker. 

Join us for a Winners' Concert of the inaugural Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Washington, D.C. featuring 14 young people from across the country as they  present their musical talent and considerable accomplishment. The Competition took place on March 3^rd and 4^th of 2018 and was open to pianists in three age categories: Category 1: Contestants 12 years of age and younger, Category 2: 13-15 years of age, and Category 3: 16-18 years of age. The goal of the Competition is to encourage young piano students in advancing their music education and to foster an appreciation of piano music among the general public.

The exhibition presents works by Władysław Skoczylas (1883-1934), graphic artist, painter, woodcutter, sculptor and educator; one of the most popular Polish artists of the 20th century. His works represent a unique, pre-war style, have mostly a national character and were often inspired by the Polish folk art. The exhibition consists of reprints made from the original woodcut blocks by a group of students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland.

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Poland's Independence

Juilliard student performers: Annie Gard, baroque violin, Rachell Wong, baroque violin, Adam Young, viola da gamba and Katarzyna Kluczykowska, harpsichord will present "Canzoni e concerti" – a Concert of the Baroque Chamber Music from Poland." The event will feature instrumental music performance and a mini lecture about Polish Baroque music, its leading composers and influence on music performed in Europe. A wine reception will follow the concert.

The Kosciuszko Foundation in cooperation with the American-Friends of the University of Warsaw (AFUW) will host a panel discussion "March 1968 in Poland. 50 years" to reflect on the Polish 1968 Political Crisis (known in Poland as March 1968). A lineup of five Scholar Speakers including: Prof. Andrzej Żbikowski (University of Warsaw), Natalia Aleksiun, Ph.D (Touro College), Anna Frajlich, Ph.D (Columbia University), Irena Grudzińska-Gross Ph.D. (Princeton University) and Andrzej Krakowski Ph.D (CUNY) will highlight different key aspects of the March 1968 events. A mini piano recital by Roman Markowicz and a wine reception will follow the discussion.

Join us for a special evening of remembering Pope St. John Paul II on the 13^th anniversary of his passing. Author Monika Jablonska will discuss her recent book: Wind from Heaven. John Paul II: The Poet Who Became the Pope which portrays the Pope as an artist and literary figure. A mini piano recital performed by Joel Espinoza will follow the book discussion. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation in cooperation with the New York Conservatory of Music hosts "Master & Students" - a piano recital by Prof. Miroslaw Herbowski as part of NYCM 20th anniversary celebrations. Proceeds from the tickets will support the Kosciuszko Foundation piano restoration project. 

Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 24th for a special evening with the Metropolitan Opera singers: Edyta Kulczak, mezzo-soprano and Disella Lárusdóttir, soprano as they give a tribute concert to Marcella Sembrich-Kochanska, one of the greatest opera singers of the turn of the 19^th and 20^th century, the first star in the history of the Metropolitan Opera, and an activist involved in the fight for the Polish cause during WWI. The program will feature arias and songs from the repertoire sung by Marcella Sembrich. Tadeusz Domanowski will provide piano accompaniment. Wine reception will follow the concert. 

Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) is remembered as a virtuoso pianist, composer, philanthropist and humanitarian. Unfortunately, his role in regaining Poland's independence after World War I is less well known. This lecture focuses on Paderewski's political activities between 1910 and 1922, his role in the "Front Morges" political formation in Switzerland in the 1930s, and on his last year of life, when Paderewski became a World War I refugee in America. Rare photographs from the Paderewski Paso Robles Collection held at the Polish Music Center, USC, will illustrate the lecture.

The Kosciuszko Foundation invites you to join us to see "Pola Negri: Life of a Star" – an eye-opening and inspiring documentary about Pola Negri (born as Apolonia Chalupec in present-day Lipno, Poland), the first European film star to be invited to Hollywood who achieved worldwide fame and became one of the most popular actresses in American silent film. The film screening will be followed by a discussion with film director, Mariusz Kotowski led by Prof. Andrzej Krakowski, an award-winning film producer, screenwriter and director. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation invites all children aged 7-10 years to take part in the art contest: "Santas ... Santas." Deadline to submit the artwork is November 25, 2017. The art exhibit and award presentation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. The event will also feature Pastorals and Cristmas Carols singing by young artists. Artistic Director-Teresa Rysztof.                                                                     

Swiety Mikolaj (Santa Claus) will visit the Kosciuszko Foundation on Saturday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. All children and their parents are invited. The event will feature singing traditional Christmas Carols, making Christmas ornaments with the Polish Scouting Folk Craft Instructors and fun raffle. Dr. Tomasz Pudłocki, Associate Professor at the Jagiellonian University's Institute of History in Kraków, Poland will present a lecture on efforts to promote Poland in the US at the time of the Fair, when a nationwide publicity push was prepared with great optimism. Gen. Rowny has worked closely with five U.S. Presidents – Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush. Gen. Rowny was as a Troop Commander in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, before serving as a negotiator in arms reduction talks with the Soviet Union. Proud of his roots, Gen. Rowny has been engaged in Polish-American affairs throughout his life.

Under the command of General George Washington, Colonel Thaddeus Kosciuszko, Chief Engineer at West Point, designed and oversaw construction of a fortification system during the American Revolution that was to become a model for the American Army going forward. Dr. Betsey Blakeslee will discuss the restoration efforts of Kosciuszko's fortifications and his garden at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

The Annual Fundraiser of The Pro Arte League of the Kosciuszko Foundation will be held on Sunday, October 21st  at the Chart House, Lincoln Harbor, Weehawken, NJ.  

A theatre play by Tamara Karren, based on Janusz Korczak's Ghetto Diaries.

Two Man art exhibit featuring Anna Constance Lipowicz and Zenon Nowacki.

The exhibited pieces were inspired by light and different moods influenced by light. The paintings show authors' joy and dreams, the beauty of a real life, which the painters want to preserve.

Preliminaries and finals are scheduled for Saturday, September 29 at the KF House. Preliminaries will start at 10 am. Finals will start at 1 pm. 

The Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Piano Competition was established in 1949, in honor of the hundredth anniversary of the death of Frederic Chopin. The inauguration took place at the Kosciuszko Foundation House in New York City, with Witold Malcuzynski as guest artist, and Abram Chasins, composer and music director of the New York Times Radio Stations, presiding.

The Sembrich Voice Scholarship Competition of the Kosciuszko Foundation will take place on Friday, March 9 beginning at 10 a.m. Auditions are open to the public.

This documentary tells the remarkable story of Irena Sendler, a Polish Catholic social worker who organized the rescue of thousands of Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. 60 minutes.

This cultural biography of Helena Modjeska (1840-1909) tells the story of how a 19th-century actress, born illegitimate in Poland, first conquered the Warsaw stage in the 1860s and early 1870s as a star and an impresario, and then departed for America in 1876, where she learned English and won renown as the greatest "American"  Shakespearean actress of her day.

Vladimir Lihodedov is a Belarusian historian and deltiologist, author of 11 books, and more than 30 exhibitions. He will present his book  "Tadeusz Kosciuszko in old postcards and drawings".

Mozart's Sister is an award-winning play conceived and performed by Sylvia Milo, with acclaimed Polish theatre artists and America's most innovative contemporary music composers. It tells the story of the keyboard virtuoso, composer, and child prodigy – Maria Anna (Nannerl) Mozart. This Other Mozart toured throughout Europe performing side by side with her brother, to equal acclaim, but faded away and left behind nothing of her own.

A panel discussion on Solidarity & a private screening of Fall of The Empire, a 52-minute film produced by the European Solidarity Center in Gdansk.

On Friday, September 24^th, Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista, will host a special screening of their inspiring documentary film "Nine Days that Changed the World" about Pope John Paul II's historic pilgrimage to Poland in 1979.  This event is exclusively for Kosciuszko Foundation members, so if you plan on attending, make sure your membership is up to date, and reserve your seat now.

Marta Wryk, mezzosoprano with the Slavic Arts Ensemble will present a program celebrating  the 200th birthday of one of the world's most beloved composers, Frederic Chopin.

The concert will be accompanied by Czesław Czapliński's photo exhibition: Chopin's traces in Warsaw and Mazowsze.

Polish Theatre Institute in the USA presents a program based on Chopin's letters and writings of his contemporaries. Accompanied by piano, vocal music and sketches of family, friends, lovers and places he lived in, visited and performed.

Produced by Academy Award winner Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, THE OFFICER'S WIFE follows a son who makes a startling discovery. After the death of his father, a forgotten safe deposit box reveals his grandmother's autobiography, old photos of an army officer and a mysterious postcard that all link to a concealed crime: the Katyn Forest massacre. Weaving dramatic interviews with bold animation, THE OFFICER'S WIFE probes the collision of truth, justice and memory in a shrouded family tragedy.

Kosciuszko Foundation's Katyn Conference at The Library of Congress

The Kosciuszko Foundation recommends the Carnegie Hall mini-series performances called 

The Szymanowski Project.

Two tickets to the May 2nd concert are being raffled at our 75th Annual Dinner and Ball.

 Soprano LAUREN SKUCE and pianist MARIJA STROKE will perform in the Chamber Music Series of the Kosciuszko Foundation. Their program features a set of songs by Chopin, commemorating the bicentennial of the composer's birth; and "Songs of Life and Love", by New York-based composer Bruce Adolphe. The afternoon includes the popular song-cycle Frauenliebe und Leben, of Robert Schumann; and ends with four songs of Richard Strauss.

The Kosciuszko Foundation celebrates its 75^th Diamond Anniversary Dinner and Ball in the Grand Ballroom of New York's elegant Waldorf=Astoria Hotel.
