Professor Mikoś will talk about Henryk Sienkiewicz, 1905 Nobel Prize winner in literature, his major works, and their reception in Poland and abroad.  He will discuss Sienkiewicz's place in the consciousness of his readers during the last hundred years, posing the questions why we read his novels and what role he has occupied in Polish culture.

Prof. Mikoś is the author of W pogoni za Sienkiewiczem (On the Trail of Sienkiewicz) as well as numerous articles about Sienkiewicz and Jeremiah Curtin, his American translator.
