Canzoni e Concerti - A Concert of the Baroque Chamber Music from Poland

Juilliard student performers: Annie Gard, baroque violin, Rachell Wong, baroque violin, Adam Young, viola da gamba and Katarzyna Kluczykowska, harpsichord will present "Canzoni e concerti" – a Concert of the Baroque Chamber Music from Poland." The event will feature instrumental music performance and a mini lecture about Polish Baroque music, its leading composers and influence on music performed in Europe. A wine reception will follow the concert.

ANNIE GARD, VIOLIN

Selected as an English Concert American Fellow in 2017

Heralded as "a star in the making" (Classikon), Annie Gard is the 2016 recipient of the Eleanor Sophia Wood Bequest Travelling Scholarship, The Albert Travelling Scholarship, and The James Witheford Foundation Prize for Historical Performance. As the winner of the Historical Performance concerto competition at the Sydney Conservatorium (2014), she performed as soloist in Antonio Vivaldi's Violin Concerto in D minor RV 242 and J.S. Bach's Brandenburg 4.

Alongside her commitment to historical performance with a special interest in romantic performance practice, Gard is a founding member of the highly regarded traditional tango ensemble Fuego Blanco and has studied in Buenos Aires the intricacies of both the music and the dance. MORE 

KATARZYNA KLUCZYKOWSKA, HARPSICHORD

Born in Krakow, Poland, and raised in Warsaw, Katarzyna studied music in Poland and Germany. Thanks to Fulbright she became a Juilliard student in Historical Performance Program receiving a full scholarship. She studies under the guidance of Peter Sykes, Béatrice Martin and Richard Egarr.

She is a prize-winner of the Wanda Landowska National Harpsichord Competition and the Academic Harpsichord Competition in Gdańsk and Poznań, Poland. Katarzyna is also a great supporter of contemporary music. She has premiered pieces by Polish, German and Chilean composers and had the honor to coordinate workshops with the amazing modern harpsichordist – Gośka Isphording. Katarzyna's recent performances include international and national tours with Juilliard415 and solo clavichord recital at the Gore Place in Waltham, Massachusetts for the Boston Clavichord Society. RACHELL WONG, BAROQUE VIOLIN

Originally from Seattle, WA, Rachell received her Bachelor of Music from University of Texas in Austin and a Master of Music from Indiana University.  An active performer, Rachell has soloed with orchestras across the US, Central America and Europe. Recent concerts include a tour of New Zealand with the New Zealand String Quartet, a tour of Alexander Ekman's ballet Cacti with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and recitals with world renowned pianist Anton Nel in Austin, Texas and pianist Johan Botes in Lucera, Italy.

Rachell was the Grand Prize winner in the 52nd Sorantin International Young Artist Competition, a prizewinner at the 2014 Heida Hermanns International Music Competition, and Grand Prize winner at the 2013 International Crescendo Music Awards. MORE

ADAM YOUNG, VIOLA DA GAMBA

Adam Young identifies as a baroque and modern cellist, violist da gamba, ballet dancer, accompanist, and pianist. His Bachelor's Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music is in modern cello with an emphasis in baroque, obtained while studying with Jennifer Culp, Elisabeth Reed, and Corey Jamason. Adam works as a ballet accompanist for Peridance Capezio Center, Ballet Inc., Ballet Academy East, Steps on Broadway, Nutmeg Ballet, Brooklyn Ballet, and has worked at San Francisco dance companies including Alonzo Lines Ballet, Oberlin Dance Company, Berkeley Ballet Theatre, University of California-Berkeley, and Stanford University and has accompanied classes at S.F. Ballet Academy and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He is a co-founder of Cello Street Quartet, a winning group of American Music Abroad and traveled to Eastern Europe and Russia, teaching and performing through a Federal-State Department-funded tour.
