Polish Woman 1864-1914: Between Family Duties and Emancipation.

Friday, November 8, 2013, at 7:00pm

The 2nd part of La belle epoque was crucial for the Polish women's emancipation movement. Central Europe was going through the process of modernization, while women's everyday lives were still very paternalistic and  male dominated.

What was considered "new," "modern," "extravagant," and what was popular, actual, and accepted by the society-at-large? What was absolutely rejected?

Pudlocki explains what was hidden behind the Polish woman's path to emancipation and why focus was placed on equal rights to education.

A part of Dr. Pudlocki's two-part lecture series at the Kosciuszko Foundation.

This event is free and open to the public.
