The Slavic Arts Ensemble was founded in 1977 by Mieczyslaw Gubernat, a former orchestra member of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Poland, with the intend of presenting little-known Polish and Slavic compositions to American audiences.  Since its successful debut at the Ukrainian Institute of America in New York, the Slavic Arts Ensemble has won the hearts of audiences. The Ensemble has also received substantial critical acclaim. Hailed by the New York Times for their "superlative performances of chamber music," the Ensemble's repertoire now reaches international audiences via Voice of America. 

The initial series of "Birthday Concerts", featuring the music of Polish composers, performed at the Kosciuszko Foundation, inspired the Ensemble to expand its repertoire.

Polish mezzo-soprano Marta Wryk has been active as a recitalist giving concerts in Europe an the United States since 2004. She is a winner of the Ist Prize in XV International Voice Competition in Gorizia, Italy (2009). Her concert experience spans appearances at Caramoor Music Festival in New York, International Festival Art-Connection in Rotterdam, First International Baroque Festival in Warsaw and IVth Forum of Baroque Music in Warsaw. She also performed in Henryk Wieniawski Music Society in Poznan, Kammeropere Schloss Rheinsberg in Germany, Kosciuszko Foundation and De Lamar Mansion in New York. She has recently performed  a recital for MTNA with famous pianist Kevin Kenner, as well as she appeared with Toronto Sinfonietta, singing arias from Carmen. Her future concert engagements include recitals in Symphony Space in New York Chopin Foundation in Miami and  in Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, Italy. Ms.Wryk is a student in Manhttan School of Music where she recently performed Mirtillo in Haendel`s Il Pastor Fido and was praised for clear sound and assured presence. Other operatic credits include: Prince Orlowsky in Die Fledermaus, Gondi in Maria di Rohan and scenes from Cosi Fan Tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro and Falstaff.
