WIPAC Fall Piano Concert- John Gardecki

Washington International Piano Arts Council (WIPAC), in cooperation with The Kosciuszko Foundation proudly presents this celebration of music to open the 2019 Season featuring WIPAC Artist-in-Residence and award-winning pianist JOHN GARDECKI.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he is a 2nd generation Polish-American, educated at Loyola College, UCLA and Columbia University in fields of physics, musicology, and arts administration. He studied piano and music theory in early years privately with two giants of music in Baltimore, Dorothea Ortmann-Seletzky and her father Otto Ortmann, Director of Peabody Conservatory and founder of Goucher College Music Department. He is a pianist in the romantic tradition and has been known throughout his mature performing years as the Chopin man.


The program for the afternoon includes various piano favorites: Liszt's Liebestraume, two Schubert Impromptus from Op. 90, Scriabine's Nocturne for left hand alone, and Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu and Revolutionary Etude.


Washington International Piano Arts Council (WIPAC) was organized in 2001 to promote international friendship and mutual understanding among nations, to provide an educational forum for all levels of professional and non-professional pianists, to create a renaissance of interest in the art of piano artistry, and to provide venues worldwide where classical music can flourish in many communities.
