About the Artist:

Viscount Thurston began piano studies at age 7.  At his first public performance at age 17, he played Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 in Denver, Colorado with the Brico Symphony led by his teacher, Antonia Brico (also Judy Collins piano teacher).  He gave his debut solo recital at Denver's Phipps Auditorium in 1973. As a winner of the Ohio State University's graduate student concerto competition, Viscount performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the university orchestra. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 1984.

Viscount has worked with the FAA in leadership development since 1985, raising four children with his wife, Vickie. They also are the proud grandparents of Fiona (5) and Jack (2).

In 2003 Viscount performed Rachmaninov's 3rd Concerto with the Littleton (Colorado) Symphony Orchestra. He won First Prize in the 2010 WIPAC Competition. He has performed regularly with the Piano Society of Greater Washington since 2007. His most recent solo recital was a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity. He and Vickie are headed to San Marcos, Guatemala with Habitat in October to work on an earthquake relief project.
