Prof. Dr. Hab. Andrzej Ślebarski
Professor at the Institute of Physics of the University of Silesia.
The Kosciuszko Foundation Scholar, Professor Dr. Hab. Andrzej Ślebarski (Academic Year 2018-2019), will investigate experimentally quantum behaviors in strongly correlated heavy electron systems and novel superconducting materials with M. Brian Maple, Distinguished Professor of Physics and Bernd T. Matthias Chair at Department of Physics, University of California San Diego, La Jolla, CA.
Professor Dr. Hab. Andrzej Ślebarski has been cooperating with the University of California San Diego since 1999.
In Cologne, Germany, he met Professor Brian Maple who is known for publications in the field of Physics, where Prof. Ślebarski was a DAAD scholarship holder. After he received his doctorate, he completed an internship with prof. Dieter Wohlleben, who was associated with UCSD.
Professor Ślebarski was a Fulbright scholar and received 3 scholarships from The Kosciuszko Foundation (2002, 2008, 2019) which reesulted in about 30 joint articles published in Physical Review B and Physical Review Letters. Articles are published by the American Physical Society (APS) of which he has been a member since 1999.
With UCSD connects prof. Ślebarski with another fact, prof. Maria Goeppert Mayer received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963 at this University, but she was born and spent her childhood in Katowice, where near the town square stands her home and a memorial plaque.
