Kosciuszko Foundation Ball is a celebration of a mission fulfilled and the benefactors who made it possible. The Foundation awards more than $1 million in fellowships and grants to graduate students, scholars, scientists and artists, and nearly 200 people benefit from the Foundation's financial assistance on an annual basis.
This year, we have the honor of recognizing Martha Stewart, a visionary and entrepreneurial mogul, who happens to be of entirely Polish heritage (born as Martha Kostyra). Our Ball Chairman is Professor Waldemar Priebe, and our honoree will be renowned biochemist and researcher, Professor Piotr Chomczynski.
Prof. Waldemar Priebe Piotr Chomczynski, Ph.D.
Amber Ball Chairman Spirit of the KF Award
Both Professors Chomczynski and Priebe are members of the Kosciuszko Foundation's Collegium of Eminent Scientists which honors renowned scientists of Polish descent in the United States, highlights and publicizes their achievements, and provides a nexus of interaction with scientists in Poland. The Collegium publicizes accomplishments of its Members through the news media and the Internet, and identifies, records and catalogues information about these eminent Polish-American scholars.
This year's "Amber Ball" is evocative of Poland's prized gemstone, sought after by lovers of fine jewelry and art collectors who flock to Polish shops to admire and purchase it in various forms.
Proceeds from the Amber Ball will go toward supporting the Foundation's various initiatives, like conservation of its magnificent art collection, renovation of the impressive Kosciuszko House, cultural programming, outreaach to children, and scholarship support.
You can help us to achieve these goals. Join us and our celebrity guests on April 30th to dance, celebrate, socialize and network at the glamorous Waldorf-Astoria. If you cannot attend, please purchase an ad in the Ball journal and buy raffle tickets to win fabulous prizes. You can also donate prizes for the raffle, make a cash donation or supply gift bags. You'll be glad you did and you will be helping the most effective Polish-American institution in its efforts.
