Beats of Freedom (Zew wolności) (2010, 73')
dir. Wojciech Słota, Leszek Gnoiński
Beats of Freedom is a documentary about the history of Polish rock music depicting the 1980s – a time of political repression and censorship. It is a story about the birth of music which, standing in opposition to the reality of People's Republic of Poland, would set people free. Such stars of the Polish music underground as Kazik Staszewski, Muniek Staszczyk, Kora Jackowska, and many others appear on screen. There are also archival photographs from the legendary Jarocin festival, but it is the energetic music and songs with politically engaged lyrics that come to the fore.
