KAYA MIRECKA PLOSS - Long-term promoter of Polish culture in the
United States. Co-founder and the first Executive Director of the American Center of Polish Culture in Washington, D.C. National President of the American Council for Polish Culture 1988-1992. Famous for her tireless support of talented Polish youth through two of her organizations: Children of Silesia Foundation and The Jan Karski Institute for Tolerance and Dialogue. She is a patron of a school in the town of Nakło Śląskie in Poland. Awarded with Commander Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta
and the Award of Merit for the Culture of Poland. Awarded with United Nations Order of Smile for the initiative "Dream Vacations" – summer program in the United States for more than 200 children from
Poland. Author of several books, including "A Road Across the Bridge", "Polish Profiles", and soon to be published "And Who will Do the Crying." Close friend of Jan Karski.
